Below are the specimens found by Beatrix near Esthwaite Water

 

Pezizella parilis Helotium aureum, or possibly Pezizella parilis, painted by Beatrix Potter from a specimen found at Elterholme, Esthwaite, Cumbria, 26th July 1896
Exidia glandulosa Exidia glandulosa, painted from a specimen found by Esthwaite Water 27th March 1896

From the Latin; glandulosus, full of glands.This species may be found at any time of the year, growing on hardwood logs or stumps, and can be recognised by the rounded, gelatinous sporophores, which may be up to 2 in. across. Blackish or dark olive-grey in colour, and with wart-like outgrowths on the hymenium; see W.P.K. Findlay
