These two portraits surfaced at the Armitt's Kurt Schwitters Roadshow in September 2003.  They were unknown works and can now be included in the Sprengel Museum's Catalogue Raisonnè of the known works of Kurt Schwitters (Vol 3).

Conrad was painted by KS when Conrad and his mother were on holiday in the Lake District.  Nora liked the work and commissioned KS to paint a larger portrait of herself.  For this he had to travel to Southport.  She liked the portrait but not her settee, which KS reproduced accurately.  She thought its high back made it look old-fashioned, so KS dutifully lowered the height of the back.
